U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Aurelia Skipwith To Speak At Farm Journal Field Days™

Lenexa, Kan., (Aug. 5, 2020) – Farm Journal today announced U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Director Aurelia Skipwith is confirmed to participate in its groundbreaking Farm Journal Field Days™ event, set for Aug. 25-27.

 

“We are so grateful Director Skipwith has elected to participate in Farm Journal Field Days,” said Amy Skoczlas Cole, Executive Vice President, Trust In FoodTM, a Farm Journal initiative. “Her participation illustrates the importance of voluntary collaboration among federal agencies and farmers to ensure the future of agriculture includes healthy working lands and wildlife habitat as well as a diverse and inclusive conservation ag workforce.”

 

Director Skipwith will deliver opening remarks and participate in a panel discussion titled, “Scaling Diversity and Inclusion Across U.S. Agriculture,” available via on-demand video in the Farming For Today + Tomorrow Pavilion at Farm Journal Field Days. She will share the agency’s perspective on the importance of close collaboration with farmers and ranchers, many of whom operate adjacent to the hundreds of millions of acres under FWS management, including the National Wildlife Refuge System. Director Skipwith also will share how the agency’s rich history, diverse workforce and strategic partnerships are creating a more resilient future for conservation agriculture and conservationists of all backgrounds, including Black, Latinx and Native American communities.

  • Dr. Antomia Farrell, National President, Minorities in Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Sciences
  • Zach Ducheneaux, Executive Director, Intertribal Agriculture Council
