The Packer’s Sustainable Produce Summit Announces Industry-Leading Lineup of Keynote Speakers

Lenexa, Kan., (Sep. 9, 2020) – Sustainability continues to be a critical topic for all industries, but none more so than agriculture, which is why sustainable business practices will be front and center Sept. 22-24, at the inaugural Sustainable Produce Summit. Presented by The Packer and Trust In Food, in partnership with Apeel Sciences, the fully-virtual event will empower and equip the fresh produce industry to feed the world in ways that promote environmental stewardship and enhance the quality of life in communities across the globe.

Each day of the virtual event will be kicked off by an expert keynote speaker to engage audiences with firsthand experiences and real-life applications around three key themes: environmental practices, social sustainability and consumer insights. A bonus fourth keynote presentation will highlight the economics of sustainability.

Leading off the Summit on Tuesday, Sept. 22, will be Emilio Tenuta, senior vice president and chief sustainability officer of Ecolab, a global leader in water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions and services that protect people and vital resources.

The second day will feature two keynote presentations. The morning keynote from Kroger’s Kari Armbruster will detail the major retailer’s sustainability journey via their Zero Hunger Zero Waste initiative while Roland Fumasi, vice president and senior analyst of RaboResearch Food and Agribusiness, will talk dollars and cents during the economics-focused bonus keynote later that day.

Rounding out the keynote lineup Thursday, Sept. 24, is Ryan Wilson, former general counsel and chief strategy officer of Partnership for a Healthier America and current senior adviser for the Milken Institute. Wilson will share experiences from the launch of a successful national nutrition and exercise campaign with former First Lady Michelle Obama.
