Pro Farmer is the leading provided or commodity market analysis and advice to Farmers. The News Editor monitors agriculture industry news and events, especially market-sensitive news to shape Pro Farmer’s market analysis and advice. This position will analyze current and historical agriculture market news and statistics that drive content for the weekly newsletter, daily electronic services, and other content targeted to Pro Farmer subscribers.  Experience writing commodity market commentary related to corn/soybean/wheat/livestock markets a major plus and strongly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties include, but are not limited to, the following (other duties may be assigned):

• Research and develop agriculturally related news of relevance of farmer audience.
• Research and analyze market-driven ag news, statistics and trends
• Monitor various electronic news/newswire feeds daily for pertinent market news
• Write news/analysis to daily electronic services and the Pro Farmer website.  Contribute to weekly

Education/Skills/Professional Experience
These qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Ag Business, Ag Economics, Journalism, English or Communications
• 2 to 5 years of experience in ag economics or ag journalism
• Strong analytical/research skills
• Computer skills in publishing software (InDesign preferred) and spreadsheet applications (Microsoft Excel)
• Strong writing skills
• Background in farm-based agriculture a significant plus
