Director, Human Dimensions of Sustainable Agriculture

The Director, Human Dimensions of Sustainable Agriculture for Trust In Food will lead the design and delivery of solutions that support the adoption of more sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices and programs.

This essential role is ideally suited for a sustainable agriculture expert with proven experience in social marketing and behavior change who wants to work on the cutting edge in a fast-paced environment.

The Director develops and implements products, programs and services that address how producers understand, value and feel capable of making change. This work is underpinned by Farm Journal’s industry-leading reach, and its proprietary 4.1-million-record database with unparalleled intelligence on producer psychographics, online behavior and propensities.

The Director works across the full spectrum of social marketing tools: data, insights, marketing, education, grassroots organizing and communications solutions. This role spans the entire project cycle: The Director will serve as subject matter expert for scoping and sales, develop projects internally and ultimately and be responsible for project execution. By working closely with clients along the entire regenerative ag value chain, the Director also will play an integral role in charting new programs, products and services for Trust In Food.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze data and research to create actionable insights and recommendations, serve as lead analyst and author for reports back to clients and partners 
  • Serve as lead product developer and implementer for custom-built solutions to support Trust In Food’s value chain clients and, by extension, their farmer and rancher customers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across Farm Journal’s internal teams to deliver project and product components
  • Serve as a public face of the division through public speaking engagements, event participation, and other thought leadership opportunities
  • Lead client relationships and interface with various client technical teams
  • Support the sales process by serving as a subject matter expert and sales engineer
  • Develop and deploy project monitoring and evaluation plans to ensure impact delivery
  • Develop and manage project and program-level budgets  
  • Provide subject matter expertise on agricultural sustainability across the company
  • Up to 25% domestic travel may be required

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must have demonstrated subject matter expertise on sustainable agriculture with U.S. production agriculture
  • 7+ years of project and/or program management experience in the agricultural sustainability space
  • Must have previous experience with at least one of the following: data-driven marketing, behavior-change programming, audience insights
  • Consulting, MarComm/Media, or similar experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s (Masters preferred) degree in applicable field
  • Must thrive in ambiguous and evolving spaces
  • Creative systems thinker not afraid to trailblaze into new territory
  • Unparalleled client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing projects with high attention to detail
