Industry Leaders and Changemakers to Headline Interactive Panels at The Packer’s Sustainable Produce Summit

Lenexa, Kan., (Sep. 16, 2020) – Notable fresh produce leaders will share their unique perspectives and actionable advice at the inaugural Sustainable Produce Summit, set for Sept. 22-24, 2020. Presented by The Packer and Trust In Food, in partnership with Apeel Sciences, the free virtual event will empower and equip the fresh produce industry to feed the world in ways that promote environmental stewardship and enhance the quality of life in communities across the globe.

 

The virtual event will focus on three key themes: environmental practices, social sustainability and consumer insights. Each day will feature panel sessions that delve into details surrounding the most important topics facing the fresh produce industry.

 

The event kicks off on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with a look at the future of sustainable business, led by Shyam Kamath, dean of the College of Business at California State University, Monterey Bay. Adding expertise will be Bruce Taylor of Taylor Farms, David Rosenberg of AeroFarms and Kevin Murphy, formerly of Driscoll’s.

 

Sustainable packaging and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will be discussed on Wednesday, Sept. 23, with Scott Caine from Aimpoint leading the panel. Panelists will include Jay Singh of California Polytechnic State University, Kevin Kelly of Emerald Packaging and David Bell of Houweling’s.

 

Rounding out the panels on Thursday, Sept. 24, will be a deep dive into four social responsibility certifications, featuring Hugo Hays of Fyffes, Ricardo Crisantes of Wholesum Harvest, Barry Rogers of RogersAgro and Matt Rogers of AgSocio.
