Farm Journal’s Trust In Food™ Announces New Partners in America’s Conservation Ag Movement

Lenexa, Kan., (Sept. 26, 2019) — Farm Journal’s Trust In Food initiative announced the addition of Syngenta and National Pork Board to its list of partners in America’s Conservation Ag Movement (ACAM). These companies join other visionary organizations, including American Farmland Trust, Corteva Agriscience, Ducks Unlimited, National Corn Growers Association and The Nature Conservancy, in helping farmers continue their journey to preserve our agricultural resources and promote sustainable food production.

ACAM is a unique partnership between Farm Journal’s Trust In Food initiative, the Farm Journal Foundation and leading agribusinesses, food companies and non-profit organizations. The national education and engagement program is designed to more rapidly scale adoption, documentation and beneficial outcomes of conservation agriculture.

“Syngenta’s long-term commitment to farmer-led conservation and sustainability efforts is at the core of our company’s mission and values, which we have demonstrated through products and programs like AgriEdge Excelsior and Sustainable Solutions,” said Vern Hawkins, President of Syngenta Crop Protection. “Working side by side with ACAM Board of Advisers Chairman Jay Vroom and other ACAM partners will provide a one-of-a-kind platform for us and all of agriculture. This partnership reinforces and strengthens our commitment to helping farmers deploy new practices that improve our agricultural environment.”

“Our producers know that more than 50% of pork’s environmental footprint comes from the feed raised by America’s farmers, so it is very important that our industry works closely with corn and soybean producers through America’s Conservation Ag Movement,” said Bill Even, CEO of National Pork Board. “Efforts like this align well with the U.S. pork industry’s We Care℠ sustainability principles and commitment to continuous improvement.”

Trust In Food plans to announce additional ACAM partners before the end of 2019. Activities that will advance the initiative later this year include a special conservation-themed issue of Farm Journal with distribution of nearly 600,000 issues and total readership of approximately 1.5 million reaching farm country, Congress and government policymakers, non-government organizations, the food industry and others. This issue will showcase the sustainability success stories of farmers, ranchers and growers; highlight the business value of on-farm stewardship and explain how farmers can use new methods and technologies to enhance conservation. In addition, a complementary special insert on conservation and sustainability in the produce sector will publish in the leading voice of the produce industry, The Packer, and “AgDay” TV will spotlight the leadership of five conservation-minded producers representing a cross-section of ag sectors and geographies.

Throughout the next year, these messages also will be shared through Agriculture Through the Voice of the Farmer. This agricultural showcase and interactive educational experience on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., features a variety of crops and produce; technologies critical to producing affordable, wholesome food; and the beneficial outcomes of conservation agriculture such as healthy soil, clean water and abundant wildlife habitat.
