Farm Journal to Launch New Farmer-Focused Design with Summer 2019 Issue

Lenexa, Kan., (May 20, 2019) – To strengthen its connection with today’s farmer, Farm Journal is launching a bold new look that is modern and fresh, yet still speaks to its rich heritage. The magazine will retain the key elements that have made it the farmer’s favorite for more than 141 years, including the Farm Journal Test Plots, instructional articles and advice from experts such as Machinery Pete and Farm Journal Field Agronomist Ken Ferrie.

“Farm Journal has a simple mission — to provide practical advice that improves the livelihoods of farmers,” said Doug Catt, Vice President of Farm Journal’s Crop Division. “This new design will further that mission and strengthen Farm Journal’s position as the best-read magazine among the nation’s farmers.”

Specific elements of the new design will include:

  • Cover-to-cover interactivity with com, Farm Journal’s online home
  • A cover that provides quick access to inside content
  • A new tagline — “The Farmer’s Favorite” — inspired by farmer research
  • A vibrant design to improve readability and engagement

The updated design, based on integrated insight and research gathered from farmers of all ages, reflects a desire for quick bits of relevant content combined with in-depth articles covering complex agronomic and financial topics. By adding attention-grabbing entry points, interesting callouts, more white space and an enhanced data presentation, the new Farm Journal design fits the readership needs of today’s farmer better than ever.

“Farmers are like all of us — they vote with their time and their preferences,” Catt said. “They rely on print. Farm Journal has held strong as farmers’ No. 1 choice for more than 10 years based on research studies. This new design will drive even greater return on investment for advertisers from expanded readership and engagement with Farm Journal content.”
