Farm Journal Earns Top Awards in Farm Broadcasting

Lenexa, Kan., (Nov. 23, 2022) Farm Journal’s Tyne Morgan, host of U.S. Farm Report, was honored with the National Association of Farm Broadcasting’s 2022 Doan Award at the group’s annual convention Nov. 17 in Kansas City, Mo. The Doan recognizes excellence in reporting agriculture through skill, thoroughness and attention to audience interest.

Morgan’s winning entry told the story of the Brandon Leseberg family of Rock Port, Mo., and five neighbors who saved his life while rescuing his son from drowning in a well. The award-winning story can be viewed here: https://www.agweb.com/news/livestock/beef/remarkable-rescue-five-farmers-save-father-and-6-year-old-son-after-falling-70

“The Leseberg family’s story — and the community rescue that ensued — was an incredible story of survival and one I’ll never forget,” said Morgan. “In a situation where so much could go wrong, the outcome is one in which those who rescued the Lesebergs can’t even explain. The family agreed to share their story exclusively with Farm Journal to help make others ‘well aware’ and possibly save another life. It was an honor to help them do that.”

The Doan award is presented annually in honor of Stewart Doan, who spent more than 30 years covering agriculture news and policy. Doan served as president of NAFB in 1998, was recognized in 2006 as Farm Broadcaster of the Year and inducted into the NAFB Hall of Fame in 2012.

Other awards won by Farm Journal include AgDay, the daily newscast of record for American agriculture hosted by award-winning broadcast journalist Clinton Griffiths, taking top honors in the Video Newscast Award for three of the past four years. Griffiths also was honored for producing the top Video Interview Award entry, which featured an exclusive interview with Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. “It is a true honor for Farm Journal to be recognized for its outstanding work on the company’s broadcast platforms,” said Charlene Finck, president of Farm Journal. “Our broadcast team is dedicated to serving the needs of the agriculture industry and telling the story of American farmers and their role in our global food supply chain.”
